Puppets and marionettes are not just magnificent characters who put on shows, they are also objects full of meaning, ready to become symbols or metaphors off stage. In this exhibition, Joan Baixas proposes a different look at marionettes, a motionless and silent theater function for the viewer to invent their own stories.

 

Pieces in the exhibition:

 

THE SHIP OF MADMEN. Reinterpreting a medieval legend in which the crazy, the different, the excessively cheerful or hedonistic are punished by banishment, this piece wants to pay tribute to the power of imagination to reborn these mischievous characters that arise from nature and inhabit books, stories and fables .

 

 

MANEUVER-MARISOMBA. Inaugurated at the Santa Mònica Art Centre, Barcelona 2015. Nature and culture support the puppet like the rod that catches a fish, technology turns it into a shadow and the soft snort of the audience makes it dance.

 

THE LAST SUPPER - EATING YOUR SOUL. Inaugurated at the Cervantes Institute, Milan 2015, on the occasion of the exhibition on food. Every dinner is the last dinner. For many Every dinner is no dinner. For others Are we eating the remains of one world or feeding the beginning of another?

 

MANGONES (I to XIV). The puppet as metaphor and allegory. Threads, commands, controls, manipulations, artifices and other tricks. Immobile theater about mobile ideas.
